Aamir Khan hunting for a hot item girl?

Posted by Mohan Desai On 2:08 PM 0 comments

Rumours are rife in the industry circles that Aamir Khan wants to have an item song in his home production Delhi Belly and is on the look out for an A list actress to perform it.From what we have heard from industry sources, Aamir, the master planner wants to give his medium budget production, Delhi Belly starring nephew Imran Khan the big push by roping in a big starlet for an item song. The song is not a gimmick but a part of the film. Sources further reveal, “Apparently, Aamir first tried it out with his 3 Idiot’s co-star Kareena but since she is busy with shooting commitments she could not allot her dates. Roping of current flavour of the season Priyanka Chopra also crossed his mind but it seems it may be too much of an ego issue for him, since his request for a screen test for her during the casting of Ghajini had not gone down to well for her. Now it remains to be seen who shall be finally be the one who shall be chosen by Mr. Perfectionist.”Knowing his penchant for perfectionism perhaps a reality dance show hunt ala Shah Rukh Khan (he chose cheerleaders for his IPL team) might work? But then A list actress would certainly not participate in it.

Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan

Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan always involve in exchanging bitter words. They never leave any opportunity to throw tantrums on one another. But with their new move, we can conclude that enmity between the two is gradually fading down. No the two big Khans are not coming together for any new film but they have been roped by Coca Cola to endorse their product.Pepsi had cut off ties with Shahrukh Khan, the product that he has been endorsing for years long due to his growing age. SRK had hit 40 and Pepsi found him unsuitable for their ad as their drink has a huge youth appeal.Shahrukh Khan is not a man to sit silently and accept the insult. He gave a tight slap on Pepsi by tying up with Cola. After roping in Kolkata Knight 's star Saurav Ganguly and his team to endorse Sprite which is a Coke product, he has joined hand with Aamir for another ad.The Cola has a big plan to launch their product in a big way with Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan

When Aamir Khan offered to clean the toilets

Posted by Mohan Desai On 1:23 PM 0 comments

In demonstration of solidarity for the producers who are united in their battle with the multiplexes, Aamir Khan has now gone a step ahead. He has even offered to clean toilets in single screen theaters and make them hygienic enough for audiences to come in.This drastic step comes in the light of current situation in the industry where producers may well abandon multiplexes and release their films only in single screen properties if the stand off with multiplexes persists."I was literally shocked when I heard that. For someone like Aamir Khan to make a statement like this is a big enough message for all of us out here", says Vashu Bhagnani with whom Aamir shared this idea of his.Aamir made this statement in light of Vashu's production Kal Kissne Dekha which has been postponed due to the ongoing tussle with the multiplexes. A launch pad of Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai, this was the only film that was all set to be released and it's promotion too had kick started before the strike was announced."I had met Aamir Khan 10-12 years back and wasn't sure if he would really recognize me. I knew he would know me by my name but was doubtful if he would associate it with a face. This is why he coming to me and saying that he was behind my film is a huge thing for me", says Vashu who is sticking along with producers' decision of not releasing his film till there is clarity on the 50:50 revenue sharing issue."Both Aamir Khan as well as Shah Rukh Khan have been pillars of support for my film", says an emotionally charged Vashu, "While Aamir said that for industry's sake, he would even be willing to clean toilets so that audiences could feel better about watching a film in the single screens, Shah Rukh said that he will publicly ask audience to show support for my film."Another producer who was with Shah Rukh, Aamir and Vashu when this conversation was in progress too nodded in agreement. "Aamir as well as Shah Rukh are very emotionally charged about this entire situation. They understand that so many of us out here have put crores on the backburner for the sake of the industry.""In reciprocation, they too are going all out in the middle of their hectic schedules and showing such great solidarity. Both of them are sure that if multiplexes do not relent, they will march towards single screen theaters and invite public to watch films there. No one is expected to hold on for long and if need arises, films would soon start releasing only in single screens," he concludes.

Not at Mannat, says Aamir

Has the Bollywood producers and distributors’ stand-off with the multiplexes over a 50:50 profit sharing broken the ice between Shah Rukh Khan and

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan More PicsAamir Khan? No, they only came together for this cause, and BT has learned that the personal differences between the Bollywood Khans is far from over. It was Aamir who after his meetings with the multiplex representatives, took it upon himself to involve the other A-list actors. “He sent an SMS to Shah Rukh, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan,” said a United Producers and Distributors Association Forum member. Akshay, Salman and Saif replied that they were busy with their shoots, but would go along with whatever Aamir thought best for the industry; Hrithik didn’t respond at all; and, Shah Rukh was graceful enough to lend his support. The Bollywood Badshahalso invited Aamir to his home, Mannat. “The principled man that he is, Aamir is reported to have told Shah Rukh that since they have a few unresolved personal issues, he would not go to Mannat. ‘And let’s not meet at my home, either, let’s meet on neutral ground,’ Aamir is said to have added. And that is why meetings were held at Karan Johar’s Union Park residence for two nights in a row,’’ said the source. When they met at Karan’s house, SRK and Aamir got so involved with the multiplex issue, that they left their differences aside. “Shah Rukh was happy to let Aamir lead because he knew Aamir had already had a few meetings, and was more updated on the issue,’’ said the source. Ronnie Screwvala, SiddharthRoy Kapur, Mukesh Bhatt, Priti Shahani and Karan Johar witnessed the crackling chemistry between Bollywood’s two super-giants. “SRK, who is blessed with the gift of the gab, was truly a treat to hear,’’ said one of those present at this high-power summit. While digging into pastries that were served, Shah Rukh commented, “With Aamir around, I have to eat something extra sweet.’’ At which Aamir laughed. Next, when Aamir went to find a toilet and came back (thrice) complaining to Karan that all the toilets were occupied, Shah Rukh teased him saying, “Arre, what’s with you? Do you want to pee in every toilet in Karan’s house?’’ SRK then asked Aamir for some personal advice on how to quit smoking. “How did you manage to give up,’’ he asked Aamir. “I’m trying real hard but I haven’t succeeded.’’

I needed a break, Aamir on holiday without wife

Posted by Mohan Desai On 4:14 PM 0 comments
Aamir Khan today announced that he has gone on a holiday now with his two children but minus his wife Kiran as she is busy working on her first film as a director Dhobi Ghaat. For these two months he will most of the times stay away from blogging. He writes to his blog fans, “I’m going to go off the map for the next two months folks. I think I needed a break in any case, as I was kind of not really there last couple months, if you know what I mean. So I will see you now in June. Or end May. Unless I start turkeying in which case I’ll drop a line. And once I"m back rested from my holiday I'll be much more connected. ”Aamir has been an active participant of inspiring our countrymen to go out and vote. Speaking in this regards he requests, “Remember to vote, and make an informed choice. Check out all the candidates from your area before you decide who to vote for. ” Talking about the multiplex owners v/s producers issue Aamir states, “Also, you probably have heard by now that all film producers and distributors have decided not to release any films in any Indian national multiplex chains until we get fair terms, and they stop bullying us, and they stop all irregularities. So please bear with us. ”

Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan joined hands on Tuesday to solve the tussle between the producers and multiplex owners over profit sharing

Now it can be told. The talented director of Aamir, Rajkumar Gupta's next film entitled No One Killed Jessica is actually based on the sensational Jessica Lal case. The model was gunned down in a restaurant on April 29, 1999. The director whose edgy hard-hitting drama Aamir swept the nation in 2008 intends to give the same gritty treatment to the Jessica Lal case which rocked the nation. Reluctant to shed light on the project, Gupta says, "I did approach Kareena Kapoor initially to play one of the two protagonists. But nothing more can be said about the casting right now. All I can say at this moment is that the film and its script which I've just completed is inspired by a headline that I saw in The Times Of India in 2006 which said, 'No One Killed Jessica'(when all the accused in the sensational case were acquitted). It immediately set me thinking. Over the years, as the case dragged on, that headline acquired immense ironical overtones." No One Killed Jessica will star two leading female performers in the age group of 27 and 30. A gritty bio-pic on Jessica Lal's murder is not the only surprise the Aamir director drops on us this week. He has also written the script for Barah Aana. Though Gupta is all for the way first-timer Raja Menon has directed his script, he admits he would film the script different. "I'd have made Barah Aana edgier, grittier and fast- paced. That's the treatment I had envisaged for the screenplay. Also it isn't clear in the film why Naseeruddin Shah's character doesn't speak. He just looks angry. The fact is the character has nothing more to say to the world. This aspect doesn't come across in the film." Also much as Gupta likes young Arjun Mathur as an actor, he thinks Mathur is a miscast as a Bihari waiter in Barah Aana. "I'd have cast someone like Deepak Dobriyal. But that's neither here nor there. Barah Aana is fine the way it is." Would Gupta write more scripts for other directors? "I don't know. Barah Aana was a commitment before I directed Aamir. Right now my concentration is on casting for No One Killed Jessica. I just hope I don't end up casting whoever is available. I need two very strong young actresses." The actresses will play Jessica and her sister who fought for justice on Jessica's behalf.

aamir khan says no to politics

Stating that he would never enter into politics, Bollywood star Aamir Khan today said the Mumbai terror attacks had stirred up awareness among citizens to chose right leaders.“After the terror attack, citizens are well aware about the state of affairs in the country and this will help them choose the right leader in the coming elections,” he said while launching a campaign to create awareness amongst voters.
A city-based NGO, Association for Democratic Reforms and National Election Watch, launched a nationwide voter awareness campaign ‘Vote for Integrity, Vote for Good People’.The campaign will appeal to citizens to make an informed choice and also provide them with information about candidates through a toll free number, SMS and website.
The 44-year-old actor, however, said he would never enter into politics like other actors, as he is very passionate about acting and movies. “I have voted only twice or thrice and will be voting this year too. I vote for the leader who has a strong character and a high level of integrity,” he said.

Ghajini will re-release in cinemas

Posted by Mohan Desai On 1:10 PM 0 comments
Ghajini is slated for another release this year after the movie was a huge blockbuster the previous year. Producer Madhu Mantena has decided to re-release the Aamir Khan starrer one more time in the first week of april. The movie will be released with a marketing effort of “more footage”. That means one would get to see more muscular Aamir with more memory loss. Apparently the producer asked Aamir what he thought of the strategy and Aamir was all for it.

Ghajini encore will see a huge benefit of the on-going strike and so many people wouldt have an option but to watch the film. The movie will release throughout India . "We'll go for a full-fledged release with about 200 prints. Hopefully, this time we'll again create some ripples."

Well, this was not any film shooting, but the superstar was at the campus to deliver lecture as a part of an elective course on ‘Introduction to Contemporary Film Industry’ introduced newly in the course. However, Aamir’s visit to the IIM-A campus was quite dramatic, as few institute authorities were privy to this visit. Even senior faculty members and students could not know about this until the last moment. “O really, has Aamir Khan come to the campus?’’ asked a senior faculty when told about his visit. Another faculty member reacted: “O yes, I saw him walking towards his classroom.’’ The institute tried to play down his visit and did not allow for media interaction.

What luck! Aamir & SRK in a film

This is a coup for any director in Bollywood. shah rukh khan
and Aamir Khan in one film! Take a bow, Zoya Akhtar — you’ve managed to do that in your debut film.
The long wait for cinema audiences everywhere is now over with Zoya’s Luck By Chance (produced by Excel Entertainment and Reliance Big Pictures) hitting the screens on January 30. Interestingly, the Khans play themselves in the film, but regretfully don’t share screen space and appear at different times individually. SRK interacts with Farhan and Aamir with Konkona. Both superstars have excellent relationships with Farhan and Zoya and both wanted to support this film. Even though Aamir doesn’t do cameos, he readily agreed because he is familiar with the set-up having worked with producer Ritesh Sidhwani and director-actor Farhan in Dil Chahta Hai. Also, Aamir who works on bound scripts only, had already read Luck By Chance’s script when Zoya took it to him for feedback some years ago. So that was also okay. “Initially, we were in a fix wondering how to talk to him, knowing his stance on cameos, till dad called me up to say he had spoken to Aamir,” explained the petite Zoya. Once dad Javed Akhtar succeeded with Aamir, SRK was easy to approach. “I personally spoke to Shah Rukh. But I won’t like to take the credit alone, because both actors did it out of friendship for Farhan and Ritesh. There is a lot of respect between all of us,” she added. The film has Bollywood as its backdrop with Farhan playing a struggling actor opposite Koknona. “This is the first original story that gives you an insider’s journey of the film industry. A struggler’s experience,” said Ritesh. And here’s another little secret: Aamir shot for the film when he was in the midst of Ghajini and had the tonsured look; so, the consummate actor agreed to wear a wig for Zoya!

It’s fish and mousse for Aamir

Monday night was one of those rare occasions when Aamir Khan step out with co-stars Madhavan and Sharman Joshi for a night out in town. The actors, who are in namma Bengaluru till early February shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots, had a quiet dinner at a plush heritage hotel on Race Course Road. “They were here until late night and enjoyed a meal at a Vietnamese restaurant. Thai red curry and rice, grilled vegetables, noodles, fish and mousse was what they chose to have that evening,” says a source from the hotel. The actors, adds the source, “were non-fussy” and willingly posed for photographs and Aamir even autographed a plate for one of the stewards. “He appreciated the food and was courteous to the staff,” says the source adding, “They were here for three hours and were laughing and having a good time discussing films and their stay in Bangalore.” Madhavan’s friend, actress Ramya, was also called by the actor to join them for dinner. “How did you get to know that? I wouldn’t want to elaborate much on this because it was a private dinner,” says Ramya.

As Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Ghajini vye to capture audience attention, in India it is once again the clash of titans at the box-office.
Both Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan claim their right to stardom’s ace seat. But as far as “three idiots” which incidentally is what Aamir’s next film is called, is concerned, the actor says the title should go to the three Khans of Bollywood.
“My next film Three Idiots will have me play the character of an idiot along with Sharman and Madhavan but Shah Rukh Khan, Salman KHAN and me are the three idiots of the film industry,” Aamir joked on a tour to the capital to promote Ghajini.
The actor tried to avoid questions about the infamous fight between Shah Rukh and Salman.
The actor, who gave special haircuts to fans joked,” I am promoting Shah Rukh’s film Billo Barber.”

Aamir wants to play Lord Krishna

Posted by Mohan Desai On 10:17 AM 0 comments
An epic film for an epic actor. For all those who already think aamir khan is a real hero and those who need some convincing, here's some food for thought. Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist has said that he is keen to make a film on the Mahabharata. As Aamir took a break from his hectic shoot of Three Idiots, to celebrate the unprecedented success of Ghajini, he told media-persons that he would like to consider Mahabharata as a project."Mahabharata is a story that is very close to my heart. I want to do a film for sure, but not at this moment because you need to do full justice to that. When you are making a film on the Mahabharata, you cannot afford to make mistakes. One has to be very careful, and at the moment, I don't have the guts." Then comes the inevitable question - what character would he like to play if he made the Mahabharata?Aamir's first instinct was towards the heroes - Karan or Arjun (is that a co-incidence?), but on consideration he says, "Unfortunately, I cannot do it because of my height...I don't look like a warrior, so I cannot do that role. I am not six feet tall, so these roles will not suit me."So which role will suit him. But of course, "Krishna" comes the pat-response. Says Aamir, "...the best role for me would be that of Lord Krishna's." Unfortunately, divinity will have to wait, because as of now Aamir is considering Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's offer of playing the great actor-director Guru Dutt in an upcoming project. And given the brownie points ROM's Rang De Basanti got him, Aamir may just accept the offer. Here is hoping that at least "Lord Krishna" or "Guru Dutt" will get us an Oscar for sure!

Akki’s award goes to Aamir

After all the drama and exchange of annoyance that took place on stage of an award ceremony recently, it was Akshay Kumar, who saved the show with his kindheartedness. The actor took many by surprise when he refused to accept ‘The Most Popular Actor’ award saying that not him, but Aamir Khan deserved the award for his work in Ghajini. Our sources say, “Akshay Kumar saw Ghajini in New York when he was there for the premiere of Chandni Chowk to China and was floored by Aamir’s performance and effort. On his return to India from London, Akshay saw Singh Is Kinng in the flight and thought that Aamir’s effort was far more commendable. Receiving the award Akshay said, “I feel humble that I have won the award for ‘The Most Popular Actor’. I have waited for this award since a long time. However, I recently saw Ghajini and thought that Aamir deserves this award more. I know that Aamir does not accept awards, but I want him to accept this as a symbol of love that people have for him. I want him to enjoy the award as much as I would have done.” When contacted Akshay Kumar said, “I did something that I genuinely felt. I really do not wish to talk about it.”
