For her 24th birthday today, Sonam Kapoor could not have expected any gift like the invite that came from a leading Hollywood trade magazine to be featured in its Gen Next section along with other young cinema stars from Asia.Interestingly, in this day and age of the Internet and e-mail, Sonam received the good news from the friendly neighbourhood postman who dropped a letter from the magazine at the Kapoor’s JVPD residence.“Selective young talents are being featured here. I attribute this little achievement to the India Shining movement which the world is so high on now. And also because I am Anil Kapoor’s daughter,” said the actress whose classic beauty was one of the reasons the magazine selected her. This is the first time an Indian talent has been acknowledged in a western trade platform. “It’s very encouraging for youngsters like me and a great platform for any actor,” said Sonam. Her own Gen Next idol is Natalie Portman, the Israeli-American actress of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and other films like Closer, Where The Heart Is. “The way she has handled her life and career fascinates me. She is intelligent, talks her mind and is socially very conscious. I totally connect with her,” said Sonam who someday hopes to work with Hollywood directors like Martin Scorcese, Sam Mendes, Pedro Almodovar, David Fincher, Mike Nicholas and Woody Allen.“I am open to offers from world cinema. I will accept any script which has a substantial role for me from any part of the world. It could be in French, Spanish, English or any other language,” said the actress eagerly. Meanwhile, the Hollywood magazine call is not her biggest birthday gift. “My most precious gift is that my family is together on my birthday after a long time, so it’s really special,” she revealed. Celebrations are at home after which Sonam will be leaving for an international awards function.

Time to rejoice as we hear that the two current hot sensations of Bollywood, teen-heartthrob Imraan Khan and svelte beauty Sonam Kapoor are to create a riot on celluloid!.
Both are young, fresh, good looking and undoubtedly will make the best pair in Bollywood as they sizzle together on screen for the very first time. And that too in Karan Johar's next.
Sonam & Imraan are being paired-up in Dharma Productions (who bestowed us with memorable flicks like KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, KAL HO NA HO & DOSTANA) upcoming romantic comedy which will be filmed from September onwards.
While it is to be directed by Punit Malhotra, celebrated B-Town designer Manish Malhotra's nephew. Punit has been working with none other than Karan Johar himself from quite sometime now and even as an assistant in the making of DOSTANA. With a casting coup of sorts & a mighty production house to back this project, Punit could not have got a better start in Bollywood. It's no surprise that Manish will be the costume designer for the production. So it will be nothing less than a treat when this fresh beautiful pair hits the screen!

Aishwarya Bachchan is hopping mad that sonam kapoor will walk the red carpet at Cannes along with her for an international cosmetics brand both endorse on May 19. Says a source, "On May 10, while attending the brand's event in Mumbai, Sonam had spoken about replacing Ash, an international face for a whole range of products for the company. At the same event, Sonam was welcomed as the youngest member to join the brand's dream team. Then the company folk then added that Sonam would be walking the red carpet in Cannes." However a source close to Aishwarya denies this. The source adds, "Sonam was signed in December 2008 as ambassador for the brand in Indiaind not as part of The International dream team. And so, she will not do the carpet honours at Cannes for the brand."The source adds, "Ash will walk the red carpet with the brand's dream team, including Eva Longoria, Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Yeoh. Aishwarya got to know Sonam was coming when she reached Cannes. But Sonam has not been invited by the brand but is there with her father Anil Kapoor as a visitor." While the brand spokesperson remained unavailable for comment, a source close to Sonam says, "At the Cannes festival press conference, Aishwarya called Sonam's statements on the party day as juvenile and irresponsible. Sonam is shocked and hurt that Aishwarya is reacting to her in such a way when Sonam has gone out of her way to praise her at the party held on May 10. Sonam and Aishwarya are from two different generations and she has always looked up to Ash for her ability to handle the most difficult of situations with dignity and style."Sonam's friend adds, "Sonam can't understand why Ash is so upset with her and is bitching her out everywhere. Sonam feels that Aishwarya is doing some great films in spite of being 35 years old and that Sonam is too small for someone's of Aishwarya's stature. It's very childish of Aishwarya to react like this."

Actress Sonam Kapoor is the new brand ambassador of the cosmetic product company L’Oreal’s.Sonam will endorse products which will target the young audience, at the same time the ex-brand ambassador of the company would reportedly only be seen on anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products.Sonam thinks that Aishwarya is a fading beuty and doesn’t represent younger generation any more.Sonam Kapoor, who stareed in Delhi-6 said “I think we belong to two different generations and that’s why L’Oreal has asked me to be a part of their brand.”At the same time, she praised Ash for her acting skill and said that she’s a great success. Sonam said, “I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to work with her husband Abhishek in Delhi-6.”

Those who want to see Sonam Kapoor and her dad Anil Kapoor together on screen will have to wait for a long time. The "Delhi 6" girl thinks Kapoor senior looks far younger than his age to play a conventional father in a Bollywood flick. The buzz around tinsel town is that there's a pivotal role in Anil's home production - of Sonam's father - that he was supposed to play. But Anil is not doing the film titled "Ayesha"."Do you really think he looks like my Dad? No! He doesn't. He looks far younger than his age. And that's why I wouldn't want him to play my father. The role in 'Ayesha' that you're mentioning didn't suit him. My dad can't play the conventional father," Sonam, who has acted in "Saawariya" and "Delhi 6", told IANS.Earlier, Anil had been offered a role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Delhi 6" with Sonam, but both father and daughter decided against it. In fact, Sonam was more against the idea of their coming together than Anil."And that's how it remains even now. I really feel we wouldn't look like father and daughter on screen. We'd rather wait for a while until I'm older because my father isn't going to oblige (by looking older)," said the 23-year-old actress. When pointed out that some of Anil's leading ladies are about Sonam's age, she said: "That's right and my father looks very well-matched with all his co-stars. He's quite something. And now after 'Slumdog Millionaire' he has entered another innings in his career. His career keeps getting re-invented. I'm afraid he has set impossible standards for me."

Sonam Kapoor's debut film Saawariya may have sunk without a trace at the B.O. Yet both the critics and audience were unanimous in their words of praise for the tall and pretty actress. Since then, Sonam has been busy shooting for her second film- Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi 6 where she is paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan. This year, Sonam may not have had a single release, yet she has managed to stay in the limelight for one reason or the other. The latest is that Sonam has bagged her first official endorsement deal. According to sources, it is learnt that the young actress will be the brand ambassador for international cosmetic brand L'Oreal and will launch its new range of products targeted at the young generation. By now its common knowledge that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the face of L'Oreal. So does that mean its curtains for Ash from the L'Oreal family? Well, not quite, as Ash will continue her association with the brand as the original old face of L'Oreal while Sonam would be the face of L'Oreal for the younger generation.Sonam has already shot for her first L'Oreal ad which will be launched sometime in January next year(2009).
