Wife slaps serial-kisser Emraan Hashmi for kissing others!

This is not just a sensational headline, written to grab the maximum eyeballs, nor are we resorting to yellow journalism. This is a plain fact, that has been accepted by none other than the very much in love couple Emraan Hashmi and wife Parveen Hashmi.In an exclusive joint interview, given to a reputed International magazine, the couple comes out in the open about their beautiful relationship. They talked about almost everything, right from their courtship days, how Emraan, true to his intense on-screen lover image, stalked and wooed Parveen and kept persuading her till she finally said "yes", right down to their life after marriage!Well, we all know that Parveen is quite a possessive wife and Emraan has said many times that he will stop kissing as he has a fight with his wife every time he is required to do a kissing scene. But what came as a shock was the revelation that Parveen has slapped (!) Emraan quite a few times for kissing on-screen, during trial shows of the concerned movies. And this was revealed in a very light hearted manner by the couple.Though on many previous occasions Emraan had given statements that he would stop kissing on-screen after marriage, but he could not stick to his promise, so strong was his image. In fact quite a few films in which Emraan did not kiss failed to set the cash registers ringing.Of course, it is another matter that the films were too bad, but nonetheless the serial kisser is now riding high (despite a lovingly furious wife!) with back to back success via Jannat and Raaz-The Mystery Continues...

'Raaz 3' is on, but...

Now that RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES has worked at the box-office, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt and director Mohit Suri have decided to continue making the RAAZ movies. The grapevine is abuzz with the news that the makers are deciding on casting newcomers in the third instalment."I'd love to make RAAZ 3, but before that I plan to make something else," Mohit Suri tells me. Mukesh Bhatt elaborates, "Of course, RAAZ 3 is in the pipeline, but Mohit has to find the right script to take the process forward. As far as the casting goes, it would depend on the script entirely. If the script demands Emraan and if he likes it, we'll go ahead with him. If Mohit feels we need to cast freshers, we will act accordingly. Having said that I'd like to add that we're in no hurry to start RAAZ 3 immediately. There'll be a sufficient gap between the two RAAZ." Meanwhile, the Bhatts are gearing up to release JASHN, starring Adhyayan Suman, on 24th April.

Raaz Ki Baat: Coming soon, Raaz 3

Sequels and their sequels are here to stay. First Munnabhai and Golmaal, now there's Raaz which threatens to turn into a Raaz-ma-taz, what with the second part of the Bhatt's spook saga getting an unexpectedly solid opening.Emran Hashmi who has been lying low during the publicity, thanks to all the focus on the real-life Kangana-Adhyayan pair, says he feels vindicated by the audiences' response. "My wife kept telling me I should try the genre. I had never done horror before.It's believed in the trade that horror films open well and then soon fizzle out. But then it was also believed that a film looking at the seamier side of cricket (Jannat) would never do well. I like to walk the lonely path. That's why you don't see me at parties and functions. Maybe that's why I play the part of the loner and watch another guy take away the girl I love," Emran chuckles drawing attention to his loser-lover's role in Gangster, Awaarapan and now Raaz. And now Emran is all set to return to Raaz. After the encouraging opening the team of Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, director Mohit Suri and Emran met to discuss the third Raaz movie."Yes we're on," says Emran. "The third part will be directed by Mohit. And I'll play the lead. The rest of the details are yet to be decided. The cast of the second Raaz film was totally new. And I think I'm going to be the only actor common to Raaz 2 and 3."He says he didn't feel left out of the publicity. "Kangana and Adhyayan were a real-life couple. I can't concoct an affair just to be noticed. I was confident my work would speak for itself. Sure enough I believe people clap when I on screen the first time. I do have fan base, though it might be small."With two successes Jannat and Raaz 2 Emran feels secure enough to start a family. "We're trying for a baby and we should be parents by next year. One is never prepared for fatherhood. And if I wait to be fully prepared it will never happen. But I'm getting into the mindset now."

It's easy to be me: Emraan

The guy who romances the sexiest women on-screen looks a tad worn out. "I’ve flown in from Kolkata and haven't had much sleep. And before I leave for Delhi and Jaipur, I must party in Hyd!" he smiles that familiar smile before settling down for a tete a tete. For a moment, let's revert to flashback mode: He's the outsider in the industry, he's not a Khan, he's done some deviant films like Murder, Gangster and Jannat and at the height of ascending his popularity mountain, he tied the knot! In town to promote his new mystery film with director-cousin Mohit Suri and producer Mahesh Bhatt, Emraan says, "Hyderabad is an important destination for Bollywood. Weirdly though, I've had strange experiences here. The first time, I was kissed by a man, the next time by a girl and on my third trip, I was swooned by the cheerleaders of the local team!” The serial kisser tag refuses to leave him. Or, does Emraan keep it alive? Of late his kisses seem to be on the wane. In Jannat, he hardly got to peck. "I’m consciously moving away from that image. I have brought down the passion in my kisses (the twinkle in his eyes is all too familiar though!). It's worked for me but.... Sometimes, it's put for superstitious reasons!" he confesses. In his forthcoming sequel to a mystery, Emraan plays a painter who can look beyond the immediate. While Emraan has fared well with thrillers, his tryst with comedy hasn't been that great. At least not after Good Boy Bad Boy. "I agree. And it's even made me cautious," he says sounding unperturbed. He's also not perturbed by the display of six pack and eight pack abs by the Khans. He flexes his muscles and says, "I'd never like to be like them. I don't have to look up to them, compete with them or emulate them... It's easy to be me." With two more releases set for this year – Tu Mile and Raftar, he's happy with the way his career is moving. And says that his confidence comes from not getting slotted and doing movies he believes in. But the more immediate thing racing his mind – and you can see it – is catching up on sleep. Well, it's hard to pin the title of a 'star' but as you go down the elevator and see the long queue of girls waiting to meet him, you know he's got that something. He knows it too.

"I don't yell from the top of my voice about being the lead" - Emraan Hashmi

For Emraan Hashmi, playing an integral character in a film is the most important thing to do regardless of the screen space he gets. So whether it is a small but critical role in Kalyug or an obsessive lover with villainous shades in Murder or one of the three key characters in Raaz - The Mystery Continues, he approaches them with all the honesty and integrity.
Ask him if he is the main lead in the film or Adhyayan Suman and he goes on to reply, "I don't really get into topics like these because gone are the days when there was the concept of a hero or a main lead. I pick up a film when I am very convinced about a role because it's the depth in the character that matters most. If I like it, I go ahead and do it. I don't get into matters where I have to worry about whether the person other than me in the film has a meatier role."
Stating examples about how he has maintained this strategy from the very beginning of his career that saw him playing second lead to Aftab Shivdasani in Footpath, he goes on to add, "If I had thought on those lines, would I have done Murder considering it was supposed to be Mallika's film? When I do a film, I move ahead and let the audience decide whose film it was. I don't yell from the top of my voice that 'This is MY film'. The same holds good for Raaz - The Mystery Continues as well."
Some actors choose to do that though. They want the world to know that they have the most important part to play in a film. "Other actors may have different work priorities, I have my own. I work for the betterment of the character; the way the director wants me to play it. At the end of the day, a film is much bigger than the actor. And by the way, whenever I have a special appearance in the film, I haven't hidden it. There is no point being dishonest to your audience. In case of Kalyug, I had told people that I had a special appearance and it was basically a Kunal (Khemu) film", remembers Emraan Hashmi.
Which means he has a full fledged role in Raaz - The Mystery Continues even though all the romance seems to be reserved for Kangna and Adhyayan Suman? "Absolutely. I have a full blown character to enact in Raaz -TMC. As for who romances whom in the film, then well, watch the film", he winks before signing off.

If someone is in a bath tub, she has to be nude

If Censors had their way, Raaz - The Mystery Continues would have seen number of cuts in it's narrative. There were three issues that were raised in this Mohit Suri directed film:a) The graphic nature of scenes with never-seen-before horror elementsb) Kangna's much-in-news nude scenec) Expletives mouthed by KangnaThough there were speculations earlier that the film had been granted an 'A' certificate already, it was far from true. While talks centered on removal of these scenes, there was no meat in the story as Censors were yet to give a certificate."It was someone's piece of imagination when news started floating around the 'A' certificate of the film. The fact is that Censors had merely seen the film and were yet to take a decision. However, they had a re-look at the film and wanted to prune the scenes. In addition, they were said to be still juggling between giving an 'A' or a 'U/A' certificate. Of course, Bhatts would have none of it and kept their foot down", says a source attached to the film who has been closely monitoring the film's progress with the Censors.Bhatts were OK with the 'A' certificate but only on their own terms. They were not willing to touch the content at all and wanted it to be shown to the audience in the way it was shot."If someone is in a bath tub, she has to be nude. You don't bathe with your clothes on, right? Moreover, when you would see the film, you would realise that Kangna's nude scene has also a lot to do with audience's imagination. As for the 'level next' that we have explored in the horror genre, then well, we are pushing the envelope. Instead of complimenting us for our effort, we are being penalised. Come on, let's grow up. We see far more horror in real life", says the source amusingly.What alerted Censors most was the liberal use of expletives (belonging to the BC/MC variety) mouthed by Kangna in the film. Bhatts have an argument here as well. "She is shown to be possessed in the film. It's not her but the person who has got into her body who is saying all this. The brutal nature with which her soul has been taken over by someone is well represented through these scenes. Now if abuses form a part of it, it is with a purpose."Bhatts are of course elated that they were able to convince the Censors to retain the scenes."It is a moral victory for us. We have managed to retain everything that we had shot for in the film. If we have got the 'A' certificate, then so be it. At least we got it in our terms", says Mahesh Bhatt.A renowned director who has himself faced the ire of Censor just a few weeks back comments while wishing to be unnamed, "Bollywood has been facing the 'dadagiri' of Censors for quite some time now.It seems as if we are always brought into a court as an accused and have to answer for each and every action of ours. Sometimes they object to smoking and at times for songs. Bhatts winning their battle with Censors is a victory for everyone."
